On 26 November 2025, 15:00–16:15 CET, the Horizon Europe project LAUREL – Actionable policies for adopting high-quality integrated long-term care will host a webinar on “New competencies and skills for healthcare professionals in integrated long-term care.” Care4Skills is pleased to contribute to this European discussion on the future of skills in long-term care.

As Europe’s population ages, health and social care systems are moving towards more integrated, community-based and digitally enabled long-term care models. This transition is reshaping professional roles in the sector. Nurses, therapists, social workers and care workers are increasingly expected to work in interdisciplinary teams, use digital tools with confidence, and deliver person-centred, culturally sensitive support across health and social care settings.

The webinar will explore how education and training systems can adapt to these changes and how new skill sets can be embedded in everyday practice.

Care4Skills’ contribution

During the webinar, Orazio Fiorini (EASPD) will present the work of Care4Skills – Long-Term Care Sectoral Cooperation on Skills, the Erasmus+ Blueprint Alliance developing new VET curricula and rapid response training for the long-term care workforce.

The intervention will highlight how Care4Skills is:

  • Strengthening digital competences for care professionals, including the safe and meaningful use of digital care tools and assistive technologies.

  • Promoting person-centred care based on dignity, autonomy, participation and quality of life.

  • Supporting better risk management and safety in increasingly complex long-term care environments.

Building on the experience of the Care4Skills Rapid Response Training Programme and ongoing work on future skills needs, the presentation will provide concrete examples of how curricula and training offers are being redesigned to respond quickly to emerging skill gaps in long-term care services.

How to join

The webinar will take place online on 26 November 2025, from 15:00 to 16:15 CET.
Registration is managed by the LAUREL project and is available via the webinar announcement and registration page on the LAUREL website.
