The Large Scale Skills Partnership for Long-Term Care (LTC) was created to develop strategies to address key challenges facing the LTC workforce in Europe.
This collaborative effort aligns with the European Care Strategy, the European Skills Agenda, and the European Pillar of Social Rights, focusing on two primary areas: digital skills and person-centered soft skills.
Strategic objectives
The challenges we intend to tackle
- Growing demand for LTC services due to an aging population and evolving family structures.
- Workforce shortages, with an estimated need for 1.6 million additional LTC workers by 2050.
- Limited access to training and development due to underfunding, lack of social dialogue, and varied employer sizes.
Actions
Aim to train 60% of LTC professionals annually by 2030 on digital and person-centered care, impacting at least 3.8 million workers each year.
Broaden the partnership to include various public authorities, academics, and stakeholders.
Develop curricula, training programs, and professional development opportunities, such as micro-credentials and skills recognition.
Promote the importance of the LTC sector, its role in job creation and social inclusion, and the need for investment in skills development.
